I'd like to actually dive into how this album came to be.

I spent a lot of time in Salem over the last few years and, sometime in early 2022, came up with the idea of writing an album about falling in love with an evil witch. A year and change later, this is the result. Six tracks starting with the initial encounter and ending with the realization that it wasn't real.

Stylistically, it's the next evolution of my take on futurepop following the first set of singles. It's a bit darker and a bit edgier. I feel that I held myself back a bit in my previous work - that I tried to keep things clean and not fully expose my thoughts and feelings - and that's no longer the case here. I wouldn't say that it's based on a true story (I don't believe I have literally encountered an evil witch at any point), but it's certainly a reflection of certain experiences from my past. A prevailing theme is that what you might want from a relationship isn't always what would be considered positive or healthy. Sometimes you want to embrace the darkness.

The album took longer to write than I intended and, as a result, songs written near the end (Bleed, Enchantress) reflect different approaches from those written first (Burn, The Witch). I worried at first that this would hurt the cohesiveness of the album, but it felt right once I put it together and listened to it from beginning to end. The album tells a story and I hope you'll come along for the ride.

Finally, I wanted to find a way to show my appreciation to those who support me here on Bandcamp versus streaming it elsewhere, so I decided to include instrumental versions of the five songs that have vocals here and here only. I think they're a fun listen.
